Faber Francis McMullen III (born 1956 in Bellaire, Texas) is a retired Texas businessman and lawyer who now serves as senior pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church of Whitehall near Navasota.

He is the son of Dr. Faber F. McMullen Jr. (1929–2009), a Houston cardiologist, watercolor artist, and Baylor University philanthropist who co-founded Park Plaza Hospital and donated the McMullen-Connally Faculty Center, and Roxanna Connally McMullen. He is married to Sandy Ridings McMullen (over 47 years as of mid-2026) and has three children: Faber IV, Katherine, and Alexander.

Education and Early Career

McMullen attended St. Thomas Episcopal School in Houston and graduated in 1974. His early education at St. Thomas was unique. He received a classical education in the orthodox Anglican tradition, providing a broad foundation in the Christian Faith. He studied French in elementary school and received 8 years of Latin instruction. At St. Thomas’ was a piper in the world-famous St. Thomas’ Pipe and Drum Corps. He later earned business-related degrees from Texas A&M and NC State University, and he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1990.

He first worked in the manufacture of drilling equipment (founding a company called Drillers Supply, Inc). During his tenure as president, the company expanded to Chile (Perfo-Equipos, S.A.), and with the other principals, he acquired American Manufacturing in St. Joseph, Minnesota. After the businesses were sold, he practiced as a solo attorney in Navasota, eventually settling primarily on business law, real estate, and estate planning. He has since retired from legal practice. He also has maintained a real estate license for most of his adult life.

Later Life and Ministry

McMullen lives on a ranch in the Navasota/Grimes County area, where he has tended cattle and worked in other aspects of farm life. He earned a Master of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (completed 2015) and was ordained in 2016. That year he was called as pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church of Whitehall (one of Texas’s oldest Baptist congregations, with roots in the 1840s–1860s). As of 2026, he had led the church for ten years and grown attendance to 80–100 people. He and his wife have ministered together in various church settings.

He speaks Spanish fluently and is conversational in Irish Gaelic, reflecting family heritage. The church website (uniongrovewhitehall.org) includes his sermons and a personal biographical essay he wrote in 2023 about his early studies at St. Thomas’. His first book, entitled “The Only Way to Live: A walk through the New Testament in Real Time,” was first published online in the “House Visual Study Bible” (Authored by Dr. H. Wayne House) before being released in print. McMullen’s faith journey began in a mix of Bible Churches, Camp Peniel in Marble Falls, Texas, and the Orthodox Anglicanism of St. Thomas’ Episcopal School.
